Drew houses in the morning. Hope I can do this once a week.

While all cameras are pointed towards the next big celebrity’s folly, we have thousands of triggers pointed at what could potentially be a huge disaster… Felt the need to make a piece about the Syria situation. Its a rough sketch done in a few hours, but I had more fun working on something that has substance, over some image manifested from my mind.
I keep up with social issues, but always felt like a slacktivist sharing articles of Facebook. Bit by bit, I hope to shape my illustrations towards something that relates to world stage than some pretty image meant to excite some exclusive crowd.

"Tracking Adjustment" 12x12in

Acrylic and Oil Glaze on Canvas.

Friday’s Figure Drawing session. I was recommended to get these Pilot Super Color Markers, which has been working wonders for me!

"The Burden of Stories" 2013

Acrylic, ink, watercolor, copic, marker, pastel, crayons, paint marker, pen and isopropyl alcohol on Yupo paper.

I may have a chance to show at a little gallery event in Richmond. This is one of the portraits I made for the show. With no process and a short time constraint, I had fun playing with my media, and learning new techniques in the process.

Composition and Study for a new direction in my portfolio. Excited to remove everything from my website and start over again!

"Barghest"

Along with my goals of becoming a freelance illustrator. I am also learning to remember my dreams. because of my finally steady sleep schedule; I am able to remember the more. I had a dream that I saw a wolf/ dog that was locked in a room for years. It was born with eyes all over its body… I was told its a Barghest

"basic food stuffs"

I moved into the studio in Richmond and already working on many things. mostly writing, but still at it with the visual imagery.

vosak asked: hey, i loved those mugshots you posted and i'm wondering can you tell me/us just a little bit more in detail how you'd made them. stay cool.

Sure. A friend (Itsaherring) and i are always trying to push photoshop to its limits in terms of how weird can we get with all the filters and tools it has to offer us. Her blog is full of really interesting content-aware experiments. In this case, I found a tutorial that let you take all the crowds from an image. If you took 15-20 pictures of the same thing, and fed it through the statistics under scripts, and placed it under a median. the image will be overlay to create a average of those images. However in the context of these mugshots, we took 10 different images, and mixed them up. then used content aware scale under transform (i have PS CC, but cs6 should do it too) and played around with it. It stretched the image to newer resolution and tried to assume an image by adding more information. but the mages are really tiny, so when stretched to a higher resolution, it causes these distortions.

Matthewdavid & Odd Nosdam- Ambigroup

This project goes beyond just a simple experiment. The composition “Ambigroup” is an audible representation of a time in India when we could only view movies and television through constantly fluctuating antenna frequencies, bootleg video tapes and low quality visual feedback. In essence, my nostalgia is intertwined in the videotape culture.
This project is a visual representation of nostalgia. Of an earlier time when analog mediums and video tracking that dominated my childhood memories. I picked these old Bollywood films to provide a more exotic view of those early memories to the viewers, yet it is the most personal i can get to my memories. Displaced, and out of synch with time, the memories are distant but ever prevalent in my mind, broadcasting from light years away and now showing itself in a collaged mess on contemporary monitors. Unable to decode itself.

The technical process involved capturing old VHS videos. While capturing, I played with the clockwork of the VHS player, agitating the playback process. Causing heavy distortion of the imagery. Providing the very definition of my project.

Thank You Leaving Records and Matthewdavid for letting me use their audible composition in my visual project.
And Craig Smith and Miko Revereza for providing their information on video editing related materials.
